Getting GTINS for your products (Google Product Ratings)

What is a GTIN?

A GTIN, or Global Trade Item Number, is the unique number that identifies a product. It is the number under the barcode on a product box. The maker of the product assigns it, so the same product has the same GTIN in every store that sells it.

Google uses this number to match your reviews to your products. If your products have GTINs, Google can group the reviews and show star ratings on your Google Shopping listings. Without a GTIN, Google does not know which product a review belongs to, so your ratings may not show at all.
